The Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS) is currently recruiting applicants for our APA accredited postdoctoral fellowship position in Clinical Psychology. This is a 1-year position, with an Interdisciplinary Psychosocial Rehabilitation emphasis, starting September 2015 and ending in September 2016. Interprofessional Fellowship in Psychosocial Rehabilitation & Recovery Oriented Services – This state-of-the-art, interprofessional clinical training program focuses on a comprehensive clinical and psychosocial rehabilitation approach to service delivery, education, and implementing change in mental health care settings. Up to six fellows are recruited each year in psychology, social work, rehabilitation counseling, nursing, and occupational therapy, and the fellows work together on common projects throughout the year. Fellows will work with Veterans diagnosed with a variety of conditions and receive training in delivering a range of evidence-based and recovery-oriented practices. Fellows typically work with interdisciplinary teams within inpatient, residential, outpatient, telehealth, and community based settings in VHA programs such as Psychosocial Rehabilitation & Recovery Center, Mental Health Intensive Case Management, Vocational Rehabilitation, and inpatient psychiatric units. Other training experiences usually include family services, medical settings, outpatient psychotherapy and others.

Fellowship Information:

Training Site: The Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS) is a large and complex VA Medical System within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Located in beautiful central Arkansas, one of the country’s best-kept secrets for a high quality of living, CAVHS has a strong history of training excellence. The medical center is located in a metropolitan area of approximately 580,000 people and draws from a primary service area of 275,000 Veterans. Some military personnel and family members of Veterans are also served by CAVHS providers. The two- division, consolidated, tertiary care medical center contains medical, surgical, psychiatric, rehabilitation, and nursing home services, as well as a wide variety of outpatient specialty and primary care programs.

Qualifications for Fellowship: Applicants must be U.S. citizens, must have completed requirements for their doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-approved program by start date of the fellowship, and must have completed an APA-approved clinical internship. Experience within the Veterans Healthcare Administration system is a plus. We highly encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds to apply.

Stipend: $42,239 (amount may increase) plus benefits

Benefits: Health Insurance, 13 days paid vacation and up to 13 days of sick leave, additional authorized absence may be approved for educational opportunities

Letter of reference from your dissertation or program chair, describing your progress toward completion of the doctoral degree and anticipated date
Letter of reference from a supervisor familiar with your work in the special emphasis area(s) for which you are applying or another supervisor familiar with your clinical work
